Byala
The town of Byala is a small romantic piece of the Bulgarian nature, situated 50km south from our sea capitol Varna and 79 km north of Bourgas.
Byala is situated on the beautiful Black Sea coast, with a population of about 3000 people. Famous for its thriving wine industry, Byala is becoming a much sought after residential area. Its panoramic views make it the perfect spot for a flexible holiday or for wise investors. During the last few years Byala have developed very fast and at the moment it is a desired vacation spot for many tourists in the summer. There are many factors that determine this such as the town's good location, the 6 km long beach with very fine sand which is 10 to 50 meters wide. There are many beaches in the vicinity, some of them still virgin and unknown for most of the people.
Founded in the 3rd century before Christ, Byala today is a mix of traditional working village and a tourist resort. Many locals help produce the extremely fine vintage Dimyat.
Once there was an ancient Greek fortress, named Aspro, in the neighborhood. Before the reunification of the Bulgarian state in 1885, the border between the Bulgarian Principality and Eastern Rumeliya passed through the town of the Byala. The name Byala (White) comes from the colour of the surrounding limestone rocks. The settlement emerged around 1596 and was mentioned for the first time in 1618. In 1831-1837, there was an outbreak of an epidemic of plague.
